Our book review:
We really love this book. Herman and Rosie is a lovely story about friendship.
It is a Children's Book Council of Australia Honour Book for picture book category (2013).
Herman likes playing the oboe, Rosie likes singing. They don't know each other but live nearby to each other in a very busy big city. Their music draws them to each other, and there are other things they have in common. They are both lonely.
There are beautiful illustrations by Gus Gordon. He captures the essence and atmosphere of New York. There are pictures showing the busyness and the music that you can almost hear it in your ears. Some pictures are happy, some are sad. There is even a map that you can explore with your child.
This book is perfect for ages 5 to 9. A book about loneliness, joy, happiness, feeling down, and friendship.
